Rotary Has Heart For Seniors. On 2-14-2016, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs hosted the first Rotary Has Heart Senior Prom at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Center. Over 130 seniors attended the event.
“Rotary Has Heart” is a Rotary Zones 33/34 program that involves 1600 Rotary Clubs having a combined membership of over 67,500 community/business leaders in eight U.S. states and 20 Caribbean countries.

Guests enjoyed classic elements of a high school prom: refreshments, music, photographs, and corsages. There is no cost to attend but advance registration is required. The community has joined together to make the Senior Prom a night to remember. Members of the 2016 Youth Leadership Sandy Springs class made handmade Valentine’s Day cards for all guests. Keepsake photos of the attendees were taken and printed on site by members of the Southeastern Photographic Society of Atlanta. Live music was provided by a local country band with lead singer Kathy Reed, Ex. Dir., Keep Sandy Springs Beautiful, and by the Yuppie Scum, a rock & roll band led by Chris Barnett, a member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, and President, Bank of Sandy Springs. Refreshments will be contributed by local eateries and food markets such as Emidio’s, 5 Seasons Brewing Company, Hammock’s/Under The Cork Tree, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Rock ‘N’ Taco, Breadwinner’s Café & Bakery, Mellow Mushroom, Chick-Fil-A ,(Northridge), Zaxby's, Trader Joe’s (Roswell Road), Whole Foods (Sandy Springs), and Hilton Perimeter Suites.

The event was attended by the District 6900 District Governor Bob Hagan.
