On April 10, 2016, Stan Cottrell, world famous marathoner, spoke to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs. Global Goodwill Ambassador, Cross Cultural Specialist, The Great Global Friendship Run, World Ultra Distance Runner With enthusiasm and humor, Stan Cottrell spoke to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs about overcoming just about everything and his life as a marathoner. Stan gave hugs to attendees, which he explained that he had learned from his childhood in impoverished, rural Kentucky. While he noted that he was first in many areas, including running in China before it opened up to the free world, he noted that after a while, accomplishments are meaningless unless you step away from yourself and help others. Soon, Stan (who is in his 70s) will set out to run around the world, which he estimates will take about 7 years.
