On Friday, November 13, 2015, the Georgia Rotary Student Program Atlanta Conclave began with a chili dinner coordinated by the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs. Held at the Sandy Springs Christian Church, a wonderful venue for the event, GRSP students, host families and Rotarians met for a wide variety of homemade chili, corn bread, and desserts, then stepped up to the microphone to introduce themselves to everyone and tell a funny story. Afterwards, students went to spend the night with Rotarians families before meeting up early Saturday morning to continue fun in Atlanta. The dinner was coordinated by Sandy Springs Rotarian Phil Leek, who along with his wife, Michelle, and other Rotarians were able to make the evening a fun one with great food and friendship.

GRSP was started in 1947 by Thomasville GA Rotarian Will Watt. Will Watt had returned from warn torn Europe after WWII and wanted to help the youth of Europe by bringing some over to Georgia to study a year in college. Many years later, there are over 3100 GRSP alumni and the program in recognized throughout the Rotary world as a youth program unique to Georgia Rotary clubs.
