On 2-21-2014, the City of Sandy Springs held a ceremony on Georgia's Arbor Day at Outlook Park at Morgan Falls where a tree was planted in honor of David Evans. City of Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul (a member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs) officiated. Former Mayor Eva Galambos was present, along with Rotarians from a number of clubs, including 2013-2014 District 6900 Governor Blake McBurney, District Governor-Nominee Bob Hagan, Past District Governors Barry Smith, Steve Stansfield, Al Lipphardt, and Ralph Thurmond, Jim Squire, President of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, and Gene Jordan, President-Elect. Members of the Evans family were present, including Barbara Evans, wife of the late David Evans. Barbara received the designation of Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs from District Governor Blake McBurney. Well over 50 people attended the event which began at 10AM. The weather was sunny, cool and windy.
