On Monday, March 2, 2015, Author Alvin Townley spoke to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs about his book, “Defiant”, which recounts the story of the "Alcatraz Eleven“. These were eleven men who were so defiant that they were transferred to a separate prison where they suffered years of torture and were imprisoned in small box-type cells. The Alcatraz Eleven’s goal was to return home with their honor intact.
